How do we Reach Captain Isaiah's House?
Take the Mid-Cape Highway (Route 6) to Exit 8 (South Yarmouth, Station
Avenue). Turn right, proceed to signal lights at Rt. 28. Cross at signal lights
and take second left at Akin Avenue. Capt. Isaiah's House is on the left at the
corner of Akin and Pleasant Streets.
What to do in Bass River?
This is one of the most charming and historic neighborhoods on the Cape. Here is
where sea captains like our Captain Isaiah Crowell built their homes -- next to
the sheltered natural harbor of Bass River inlet. Like ours, most are on the
National Register of Historic places.
There are all kinds of activities surrounding the Bass River area. We provide
brochures, maps, theater listings, menus, ferry schedules as well as personal
directions as needed, and have discount coupons for two of our favorites: Whale
Watching on the Dolphin Fleet and Hyline Ferry Passage to the Islands.
Here you can find a quiet getaway, a romantic weekend with fireplace in the
bedroom, cozy reading in our Great Room, or just a convenient home base for
excursions.
What's being said about us:
We love your place because you're one of the few who've kept the real Cape
Cod ambience. Other B&B's may be lovely, but they could be in New York or
anywhere. [Emily]
I wasn't sure about those shared baths, but there are so many we found it more convenient than having to stick to one private bath. [Bill]
And here's what they remember best:
those lively breakfast conversations
the picture postcard gardens
our cozy bedroom with the well stocked bookcase
your giveaway bluebells that thrived in my garden
the smell of blueberry buckle greeting us at breakfast
